Joshua Tree National Park:

Joshua Tree National Park is known for its rugged rock formations and seemingly endless desert landscapes. Its name is from the abundance of Joshua trees within the region. The park sits between the Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert, and looks out over the Coachella Valley. Check out the video above that we made near the park.

Imperial Sand Dunes (Galyna_Andrushko)

The Imperial Sand Dunes are the furthest from LA out of the options on this list, however we feel they are definitely worth the drive. These are one of the nation’s largest mass of inland sand dunes, they extend more than 40 miles along the eastern edge of California. Many movies have been filmed here including Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, The Scorpion King, and Jumanji 3. The location is incredible for photos and video and a must see.

Located near high desert Agua Dulce Springs, Vasquez Rocks features 932 acres of spectacular rock formations. In 1874 a Notorious bandit by the name of Tiburcio Vasquez used these rocks to escape from Law Enforcement, his name is still associated with the rock formations today. This is a great location for and photo or video shoots, definitely check it out if you have not yet.

Las Virgenes Open Space Preserve:

Las Virgenes Open Space Preserve is a very well-kept secret in Los Angeles, it’s one of the only places where you can find vast open fields right outside of the City. The Preserve is more than 5,600 acres and sits on the western edge of San Fernando Valley. We love shooting at this location whenever possible! Check out the video above to see some B-roll  video at this location.

El Matador State Beach (by twenty20photos)

El Matador Beach / La Piedra Beach

El Matador Beach is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Southern California. If you have not been it is definitely a Must Visit! Because it is so widely known we always prefer to shoot at La Piedra, which is only a mile north of El Matador.

La Piedra is much quieter than El Matador however you will not get the same beautiful rock formations.
